Porsche 911 GTS T-Hybrid: Refined Performance, Reimagined
For years, Porsche aficionados dreaded the day the iconic 911 would receive a hybrid powertrain. However, the introduction of the 911 GTS T-Hybrid proved those anxieties to be largely unfounded. This model isn’t about sacrificing the pure driving experience of a 911; it’s about enhancing it through intelligent engineering.

Two electric motors drive the front wheels, while another is integrated into the flagship’s eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. This latter motor assists the 6.5-liter V-12, which revs to nearly 10,000 rpm, and helps keep the 3.8-kWh lithium-ion battery pack topped off.
Setting aside the Revuelto’s breathtaking styling and astonishing performance for a moment, it is also important to note that this is a much easier car to live with than its predecessor. Where the Aventador’s automated single-clutch transmission was notoriously unrefined during everyday driving, the Revuelto is a completely different story. Much of this can be attributed to the new dual-clutch gearbox, but the hybrid system also deserves credit for the seamless power delivery. Add vastly improved ergonomics and plenty of Lamborghini flair, and you get a seriously compelling Italian hybrid that requires very few compromises—provided your pockets are deep enough.
Aston Martin Valkyrie: The Le Mans Pedigree
The Aston Martin Valkyrie might look more at home on the racetrack than on public roads, but this jaw-dropping halo car is very much street-legal. Outfitted with a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V-12 that produces 1,001 horsepower on its own and revs to a searing 11,000 rpm, the Valkyrie’s monster mill is supplemented by a KERS-style hybrid system. This adds another 141 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque, for a total system output of 1,139 horsepower and 682 lb-ft of torque.
All of this power is sent to the rear wheels in a car with a curb weight of less than 3,000 pounds. The aero figures are equally staggering: 2,425 pounds of downforce from 137 to 220 mph, which is nearly half a ton more than a Formula 1 car. It is an extreme machine by any measure, and to say we were smitten with it from the get-go would be an understatement.
Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance: The Ultimate Luxury Sedan
We tend to associate the Mercedes S-Class with opulent amenities and future-forward technology. However, the story changes a bit when the team at AMG gets their hands on one. While its handsome exterior and luxurious cabin suggest refined performance, the devastating thrust that the S63 E Performance delivers when you drop the hammer is guaranteed to catch the uninitiated completely off guard.
Equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 and a hybrid system that produces 201 hp and 236 lb-ft on its own, the S63 E Performance boasts staggering output figures of 791 hp and 1,025 lb-ft of torque. This prodigious grunt is sent to all four wheels, enabling this large luxury sedan to give the Lamborghini Huracán LP 640-2 Tecnica a serious run for its money in the 0 to 60 mph sprint. And despite a curb weight of nearly 6,000 pounds, the big Benz maintains its composure when the going gets twisty, doing so without resorting to an overly harsh suspension tune.
Audi RS6 Avant: The Wagon That Goes the Distance
The fourth-generation RS6 Avant might not be a hybrid in the traditional sense, but its 48-volt mild-hybrid belt alternator starter system can harvest and store up to 12 kW of electrical energy. This enables the stop/start system to operate at speeds of up to 14 mph, and it also gives the RS6 the ability to coast for up to 40 seconds with the engine off at speeds between 35 and 100 mph if the driver lifts off the throttle.
